Saw X-Men: First Class this weekend and while I wasn't blown away by it or anything, it was a nice way to spend a Friday evening. It all felt a little choppy because there were about 20 different storylines going on before everyone finally started grouping together (and there was a fair bit of logic fail in a few plot points) but I give it a thumbs up if not for anything other than Michael Fassbender and his crazy ass smile, wardrobe of turtlenecks (I love them and I don't know why), and the way his accent (IRISH!) slips out when he gets worked up.

He's so handsome it almost hurts me to look at him. I am being completely serious. SO. HANDSOME. (HOW HAVE I NOT WATCHED JANE EYRE YET?)

EXHIBIT A: CRAZY ASS SMILE

EXHIBIT B: WARDROBE

EXHIBIT C: ACCENT

I scoured tumblr for a photo of him in the all white outfit he wore in Argentina to kill some Nazi's, but couldn't, which is basically a travesty for all humanity.

EDIT: FOUND ONE! :D

XD!

Did anyone else see it? It's not up there with the Star Trek reboot for me, but I felt pretty good about it overall. And I'm slowing growing accustomed to the idea of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, though I'm still not happy about it.

After that, it was decided that we might as well go ahead and watch all the other X-Men movies. I loved the first two, though after this rewatch I'm far more aware of their flaws than I was before.

Anyway, X2 is still the best. The third one still sucks. Way to take a franchise completely off the fucking rails. I especially love how the entire movie is basically about Jean and she manages to be the least interesting aspect of it. There was a lot of fail when it came to the female character though, like Jean not being able to control her powers/having to be protected from herself, Rogue not being in it like at all, and Mystique getting stripped of her powers and abandoned (and then betraying Magneto because you know, "a woman scorned" hardyharhar).

Next up is Wolverine, which I never actually saw, so this will be interesting.
