Currently I'm watching only one airing drama: Flower Boy Ramyun Shop. I was completely ready to drop it after the first two episodes because it just didn't click with me, but everyone else loved it so much I decided to give it another shot. And it was better! But now I'm ten episodes in, not invested at all, kind of hate the two male leads, but pretty much commited. I've passed the point of no return. I just can't bare to stop when I've already put this much time into a show. I just really wished I liked it better.

Issue #1: Chi-soo - Arrogant jerk robot masquerading as human. Really guy, you don't understand what 'jealousy' feels like? Are you new to planet Earth? Also- Jung Il-woo is not a very strong comedic actor. I thought he did a really nice job in Return of Iljimae, but his work in FBRS is just kind of manic and screechy. It's as though he's acting the way he thinks funny should look/sound like, but it's completely missing the mark. Comedy isn't for everyone.

Issue #2: Kang-hyuk - Condescending, passive-aggressive Nice Guy. Apparently fandom loves him? I don't get it. Episode 10 was the first time he didn't drive me to distraction. I thought his date with Eun-bi was sweet, but I'm never going to get over him guilt-tripping her into keeping the ramen shop.

Eun-bi is a hit and miss character for me. I know not every woman is going to be strong ALL the time, but sometimes I get whiplash when it comes to her reactions. But the egg trick she pulled on Chi-soo? CLASSIC.

Ba-wool is a character I'd really like to say I love, but his "gay panic" reactions got really tiresome and were horribly unfunny. The rest of the time though, he's a character I quite enjoy.

I went ahead and started City Hall... and it's kind of a mirror of my dealings with FBRS. Initially I wasn't enamored of it, but there is so much love for this show in drama fandom I gave it another try. And then it was good! For a while... Now I'm ten episodes in and the election has only now begun and I feel like it will never. end. I think Mi-rae is an interesting character, I just wish the storyline made any sense. I don't think they gave me enough motivation for her to run, especially because once she started campaigning she immediately started second-guessing herself because she wasn't an instant success. It's not like her protest was a hit right off the bat. So, I'm not buying the sudden crushing disappointment.

And her relationship with Joh-gook? Don't buy it. Mainly because I don't really see anything in him as a character. He doesn't really engage with the world around him. It's like he's playing dolls with the people he meets. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of cohesion between all the parts of this drama.

I don't even know what I'm trying to say at this point. Basically I couldn't care less if Mi-rae wins because I don't really feel like she cares herself (I feel like she cares more about disappointing people than doing anything).

Also: her buddy Director Lee totally reminds me of Kang-hyuk is how much I dislike him. He may not have supported the misuse of pageant funds, but he was still involved in it! Where does he get off acting high and mighty? How dare he look down on Mi-rae for not doing everything in her power to uncover injustice WHEN HE DID LESS THAN NOTHING. He drives me right up a wall. I want to punch him in the face many, many times.

Either I just keep picking dramas that are wrong for me or I've become IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE. This could very well be the case.

I'm anxiously awaiting subs for What's Up. Given the writer I have ever growing hopes for this show. Is it only getting subbed on viki? That's a bummer.

Anyway, I keep trolling the What's Up tracked tag on tumblr and people are only posting caps of Daesung (from Big Bang). What's a girl gotta do to get some Oh Man-seok up in this joint? Apparently he plays a drunk music professor? Can the show just be about him? The kids can sing and dance in the background. I don't really care.

Maybe I'll just go watch The Vineyard Man. AGAIN.

I thought I remembered seeing it on WITHS2's proposed projects list, but I guess they opted against it :( I guess I expected more interest in this show that it appears to be getting... As long as the viki subbers stick with it, I won't complain though.

I'm holding onto hope that they'll fit it in at some point. I mean, for the longest time this looked like it would never air. *shrug*

That's very true. I still find it hard to believe it's ACTUALLY airing.

Oh man if you hate director lee now just give it time baby he gets even worse. i mean how he treats his wife? hoo boy. Aside from him tho, I love City Hall so sorry you dont like it! I was sure you would too XD. I love all the election shenanigans and political intrigue and mi rae is such a passionate character. so it was all good for me. plus i laughed so much!
I know chi soo is horrible but i love watching him flail around screeching and being ridiculous. i derive great joy from his suffering. kang hyuk can be really lovely sometimes but gross and Nice Guy ish other times. So I dont hate him and I dont love him either. I wish Eun Bi had more spine but I've gotten so used to this in kdramas its like I barely even notice anymore, I just sit and pray she wont be a total wet dishrag with no agency by the end. I swear like every drama no matter how hardcore the girl starts out she always softens out super quick. whyyyyy. i mean perhaps it says alot about me but my favorite part of hana yori dango was when tsukushi punched tsukasa in the face. i liked the rest of it of course but that was my favorite part XD

The way he talks to and treats his wife makes me RAGE. She's no walk in the park but she's obviously dealing with intense, heart-breaking disappointment by throwing herself into her work. And he just condescends to her all. the. time.

Chi-soo does make me laugh. That whole bit with the random song player? I was *rolling*. And Kang Hyuk can be pretty funny himself, but he's just so freaking entitled. Ugh.

Eun-bi is difficult, because a lot of the time she does stand up for herself. Obviously so when it comes to Chi-soo in comparison to how she behaved in the beginning. I guess we'll see.

cries i didn't know oh man seok was a drunkard in what's up THIS MAKES IT SO MUCH MORE DELIGHTFUL AAAAAAAA ;__; idgi either – what is the point of a hugely popular boyband's popularity if their fans won't immediately sub the awesome shows their idoru are starring in. >:c

i really don't get why people say eunbi's a dishrag, i really don't! i think she's incredibly realistic in the way that she doesn't get let herself be messed with but also ends up caving to her hormones with two gorgeous guys showing interest in her. jung ilwoo isn't brilliant at comedy but Faces and Expressions are all i need and both leads, actually, are amazing in that department. kang-hyuk i love as a character because he's such a mix of perfect and Nice Guy, if only the show acknowledged this i'd be happy.

i hope what's up lives up to all our expectations, i haven't loved a drama in forever and that's suckish.

EXACTLY MY REACTION. Step it up Big Bang fandom!

I wouldn't call Eun-bi a dishrag, I just wish she was able to step up in certain situations. Like every time these guys invade her personal space. It makes my skin crawl and she never seems completely comfortable with it. AH WELL.

i harrumphed very loudly when i found out c-subs are out. >:x the oddest mix of crazy anticipation and going under the radar-ness ever.

the physical dominance thing is so prominent in this drama (along with all the sexual awareness) – ep 11 had one wrist grab too many, jesus, but also eunbi being her super self, and i have to admit the Pillar melted me, whenever they pull the surrogate father thing i can't help it. >;\ the thing i wish kdramas would really stop doing is the whole turning 25+ women into old maids. SHE'S 25. THAT. IS. NOT. CLOSE. TO. BEING. OLD. she's a sprig of a girl! STOP ITTTTTTTTTTT.

I KNOW! Why no Ryoga?! I was surprised that Gosunkugi was in there because he never really seemed like that popular of a character, but he was one of the main characters in the recent Rumic World special. Lately I've been having Troy read the Ranma manga, but little does he know it is a trap to get him to like Ryoga so he'll cosplay as him. Mwah ha ha!

And I was just thinking... why would they have Akane have long hair and then cut it if there is no Ryoga?!

I need What's Up subs like right now!

I've pretty much been off kdramas for a while now. The only one I've genuinely enjoyed (so much so that I marathoned it) was City Hunter. The only other drama I'm trying to follow now is the new Ariel Lin drama where she falls for her best friend which has been ok so far.

I've only seen 3 eps of FBRS and I really want to like it. I do. I mean, it can be cute and funny and there's lots of eye candy but I don't really care about the story or the characters. Granted I'm only 3 eps in but I just don't really see myself ever getting invested in any of these characters. So far I find the secondary guy creepy and Chi Soo just annoys me. I don't find his bratty bullshit cute at all. Eun Bi can be awesome sometimes but then some of her reactions are just so cutesy and OTT and annoying. Like c'mon you're a grown ass woman ffs! So yeah I think I get your lukewarm feelings on this drama. Idk something is just not clicking with me.

Oh man I want to rewatch The Vineyard Man again too! Best drama boyfriend ever and it's funny and sweet <3

Honestly, if I could go back in time I would have just dropped it after I watched the first couple episodes. There is nothing really driving me to keep watching it besides the fact that I'm not watching anything else and I've already invested so much time into it.

I think you only have about 6 eps left though so that's not too bad.
After seeing gifs of some of the recent eps of Eun Bi's reactions to anything remotely sexual I am dropping it. I can't take watching a grown woman acting like a 12 year old and looking uncomfortable as hell whenever a guy just touches her ugh.
