So, the weekend happened...

Good: I got a new furnace! The old one got banished to the side of the road and became part of the winterscape of my front yard Saturday morning. Yeah, I'm classin' up the joint:

Someone picked it up at some point. Good riddance to bad rubbish. I much prefer my functioning (and much more quiet) new furnace. Although, my skin is crazy dry all the time now. Maybe I should invest in a humidifier?
Bad: The Colts lost to the Cowboys. Something is wrong with Peyton. Four interceptions in two consecutive games? I know our O-Line is bad, but COME ON. We need to pull out of the nosedive Thursday against the Titans or we are SOL.
Annoying: I exceeded my bandwidth (totally typed 'bandwitch' there... which is totally how I'm feeling) on Photobucket again and I'm not sure how since I haven't posted much of anything. Plus, I removed all the gifs, so it's not that. However, instead of living with my page looking like horse manure for the rest of the month, I moved my background elements over to livejournal.
I need to find a better solution (maybe a second Photobucket account?) because I hate the LJ gallery system. And, I'm going to do a quick picspam, so the annoyance is fresh in my mind:
I made pork buns this weekend to edible, if weak, results.
I used this recipe on Maangchi, where I found my previous recipes for bibimbap and a few other things.

Zucchini, onion, green onion, and mushrooms got chopped up like so. Then I sprinkled them with a little salt, let them set, and squeezed out the excess water. Then they got sauteed for a few minutes | Browned some ground pork, garlic, and soy sauce together, then mixed it with the chopped vegetables |
This was the part I was most concerned about actually, since I don't even remember if I've ever made bread before. There was yeast and rising and kneading involved. But I did it! | The real issue was actually making the buns. As you can see, they came out less than aesthetically pleasing. Also: I have the world's tiniest rice cooker. |
Looks aren't that big a deal though. My main problem is that I was so terrible at wrapping the buns that I didn't put enough filling in. | As a result, the ratio was kind of off and the buns looked a little sad. :( They tasted alright, but it wasn't worth the trouble. |

Date: 2010-12-06 10:24 pm (UTC)Dude, you seem like you actually know a fair bit about football. I say seem because I don't know myself. Does it annoy you when other girls give you a bad name by pretending they know sports to seem cool around guys, but it's sad and obvious they don't know football?
Yummy buns! I liked baked versions more than steamed tho. I agree that they're more trouble than their worth, esp since you go to a Chinese bakery and a bun is like $1.

Date: 2010-12-07 12:38 am (UTC)Football is the one sport I genuinely like watching, as long as it's Colts football. So I guess that makes me a Colts fan rather than a football fan? My college wasn't a Div I school, so I don't have a college team I root for. I did get into the college basketball playoffs last year, because Butler had a run to the championship game and the whole town was pretty excited, so that was fun.
I find soccer and baseball painfully boring, but I work in sports marketing so I kind of have to keep up on them.
Anyway, I like watching Colts games and I know enough to get by. There is always something new that'll crop up that I don't understand because the NFL has lots of silly little rules. I don't have a problem with casual football fans, because I think it's a lot of fun to go to games or watch them in big groups even if you don't know a lot. But yeah, if they're pretending to know things just to impress a guy that's pretty weak. I don't think any guy truly cares if a girl likes football, because they're ridiculous enough about it for both genders.
True that! Plus, they taste better than my own.
