back to the drama watching

First - what the hell is with the Japanese and Colonel Sanders?!

Second - A few more random caps from Atadan 8 and 9...

Probably one of my favorite bits from episode 8 were the fantasy montages of the family dressed up as biker gang members and hosts. It was too adorable.

I've also decided that I think Maki would do a lovely job as Haruhi if they ever did a live action Ouran. Not only because she is the queen of the reverse harem idol dramas, but because I've really come to like her as an actress thanks to Atadan. For whatever reason (besides Nobuta) she's always bugged me. Maybe the role of Chisato is a bit more natural for her? She's just been super cute.

These little Japanese boys look SO out of place in football uniforms. It was like watching the little middle schoolers run around in their mini pads and jerseys.

Atadan is cute and harmless, nothing I would heartily recommend, but it's a good time. I just can't help but get the feeling that the writers would forget to write a script every week. SOLUTION: pick a life lesson and a few vague plot points out of the air, say "fuck it", dress the kids in a variety of costumes and make them run around the mansion. Not to say it isn't fun - it's just not life altering.

MR BRAIN Episode 3. I liked it, though this drama seems to have a predisposition for dealing with 'invisible' or 'impossible' murderers. Let's try something different next time, shall we? Kimutaku continues to entertain:

And Ayase Haruka's character is growing on me as she becomes more comfortable with herself and her working relationship with Tsukumo:

The drama itself is disappointing me a bit because it's way more of a procedural than I wish it was. It's fun and quirky, but it's still a procedural and I find them tiresome. Every once in a while we get a glimpse of a possible overarching theme (Tsukumo's brain issues, and what happened with the possibly bent detective? Let's revisit it!) but they are few and far between. I'd be much more interested if this were more character driven, but it is what it is, and it's a well-made, fun drama. So I shouldn't complain.

Other completely random news
1. I guess NEWS isn't going to do the theme for Pi's new drama Buzzer Beat. Instead it will be B'z, so it'll actually be good! I hope this drama will be decent or at least super cheesy. Anything but boring, PLEASE. And can Yamapi have an actual personality? That's be GREAT.
2. Tamaki Hiroshi is dating is co-star from Love Shuffle - THAT'S ADORABLE. Maybe she'll get him to eat a sandwich.
3. Some alley cat was screaming all last night, that combined with the fact I have all this drainage down the back of my throat I got ZERO sleep. Then when I went through the drivethru at Starbuck's this morning I asked for a pepperNUT latte, the employee made fun of me, and threatened to give me a pepperCORN latte. He was cute though, so it's all good.
4. IRAN.

ETA: Lavender looks like a total creeper in the new HBP posters.

LOL; I think the way we feel about the whole Colonel Sanders obsession is a lot like what the Asians might feel by us tattooing useless kanji all over our bodies--what's the deal?! ^^; Little cultural idiosyncrasies are truly hilarious to me & I love that about the world. There is so much fun stuff all around the globe!! :D

I watched half of the first episode of Mr. Brain before I heard you were watching it and seemed like I'd like to watch the rest but I'm sorry to hear that it's getting formulaic. It seems like a cute concept--like Remote. You should see Remote if you haven't already because it's a lot like this; a genius solving puzzles.

I've also seen only the first episode of Atashinchi no Danshi and am waiting for it get further before I finish it; it's good to hear that it's entertaining! It had a great hook. :D

It's just such a bizarre thing to latch on to, but it's good for the lulz!

You should definitely check out Mr Brain, it's not anything earth shattering, but I enjoy watching it. The science of it all is a bit iffy, but I just like Kimura Takuya's character too much to really care. I guess that's why I wish it was less mystery of the week, but that's the kind of show it is. *shrugs*

Atadan is thin when it comes to plot, but pretty thick with the crack.

I also started Painter of the Wind. What a pretty drama! :O

I hope you're feeling better soon and can get some rest. And B'z!!! And whoa wtf it has been a long time since I read HP because I don't even remember who Lavender is!

I slept like a log last night. It was wonderful.

Jen! You need to start watching dramas so we can talk about them. I really think you'd enjoy them.

Lavender was Ron's super obnoxious girlfriend from the sixth book. She called him Won Won.
