Just smile

SO, I created a tumblr. I enjoy finding knockoffs of random "As-Seen-On-TV" crap and taking pictures of them. I thought I'd share my amusement with the internet: Upsy Downsy.

Finished Smiling Pasta this weekend and kind of adored it. It was such silly fun. There were a few points against it: Nicholas Teo's acting (or lack thereof), but I didn't really mind because he was precious (his smile! :D), and He Qun's tendency to call Xiao Shi dumb. That got really tiresome, especially because she wasn't. Maybe she wasn't the sharpest (or as cool as Rita) but was wasn't dumb. I thought she was sweet.

I'm also happy that Rita chillaxed and became cool. Same with Ah Zhe who was just kind of a dick in the beginning. I liked when he finally calmed down and allowed his inner goof to come out. The constantly pretending to be cool really endeared him to me.

Anyway, it brought enough laughs to make me forget my issues for the most part. I loved how it didn't take itself seriously and how there wasn't a trope that it didn't like. I have a picspam planned for one that the show was very fond of.

ETA: I'd really like to watch Yankee-kun to Megane-chan but TimeLesSubs is seriously taking for.ev.er to release subs for the first ep. I just couldn't take the crappy quality on vikii.

I with you on this! I hope what will finally happen (I saw it happening fe times with timeless subs) - someone else will chip in and start subbing the drama. I really hope.

I hate to complain about subbers, because they are doing everyone a HUGE favor, but it is really hard when they pick up a project and then don't touch it until it's over halfway done airing.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Smiling Pasta. I look forward to your picspam (bet I can guess which trope!).

It was seriously too cute. And now I've seen two whole Taiwanese dramas! :D

Why don't you like Taiwanese dramas? I've only seen two so I don't know that much about them.

"My standarts have gotten SO LOW!"

Hey, we don't have to watch high art ALL the time! That wouldn't be any fun.

You know, I totally forgot that I had to drop Down With Love because I just couldn't take Ella's character. It was just too much ALL THE TIME. Plus, the episodes were like 500 hours long.

I really am glad you finally got around to watching Smiling Pasta. I kinda figured it's a drama that you'd like. I honestly was surprised that I liked it as much as I did. Taiwanese dramas do get a little over the top and this is no exception, but at least most of the characters are likable and you just want to cheer for everyone! :D

My main concern is that I would get bored, because I've been pretty apathetic about everything I've watched recently. But Smiling Pasta was just so much fun it struck a chord with me. Thanks for the rec!
