Table looks awesome! Do you have a close-up photo of the table top? I'm surprised to learn you can put stain over primer. I always thought you had to sand off the finish completely before restaining?

For projects where I want to hide ugly-ass/cheap wood, I use a glaze that just sits over the wood, versus soaking in. You can buy that poly-stain stuff where the color is in the poly, so you don't have to wade through the long stain drying times. Saves a lot of time and effort.
