My answers...

Top 5 drama men (characters, not actors)
  • Taro (Utahime) - He's sweet, caring, and infinitely sacrificing. Plus, he can sing.
  • Taek Gi (Vineyard Man) - Possibly the sweetest grape farmer EVER.
  • Mars (ToGetHer) - He supposed to be this cool idol, but in reality he's a giant dork who just wants to be loved.
  • Woo Wan (Capital Scandal) - He abandons his playboy ways and embraces his revolutionary side for the woman he loves.
  • Dam Duk (Legend) - Um, he's JESUS.
Top 5 TV shows
  • X-Files (just the first five seasons)
  • Buffy (ditto X-Files)
  • Lost
  • Everything else is constantly changing, but includes Firefly, Mad Men, Scrubs, Doctor Who, and Veronica Mars. Yeah, I know: COP OUT
Underrated dramas
  • Vineyard Man - Most of the reviews say it is boring and I couldn't agree less. I love it.
  • Utahime - I was going to put Capital Scandal here, but I've seen more and more people talk about it so it got kicked out. Utahime is fabulous.
  • Bad Family - Completely hilarious and sweet and not watched by enough people.
  • Shikaotoko Aoniyoshi - Probably a bit too slow and wierd for most, but I adored this drama (and the fake deer)
  • Pride - I don't really know if it is underrated (though it is 'older'), and I've only seen three episodes... but EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH THIS.
Drama OTP moments (SPOILERY SPOILERS THAT SPOIL)
  • Utahime - Taro pretending he doesn't remember Suzu (OH MY HEART)
  • Capital Scandal - Yeo Kyeong announcing she will never marry, much to Wan's dismay
  • Vineyard Man - the tent scene (AND THE ENTIRE FINAL EPISODE)
  • Hana Yori Dango - The goodbye kiss at the end of the first series
  • Hong Gil Dong - Gil Dong watching Yi Nok after she learns of his "death"
Dramas you wish didn't exist
  • Hello My Teacher - It's hard to believe that my feelings for the main character did such a giant 180. I couldn't stand her by the end.
  • Sore wa, Totsuzen, Arashi no you ni - SERIOUSLY SHOW? I went through all that shit and THAT'S the ending you gave me?
  • Hyena - Probably offensive to any woman who watches it.
  • Code Blue - I've only seen the first episode and it was such a waste of such a good cast.
  • Kanojo to no Tadashii Asobikata (SP) - It's not that I wish it didn't exist, I just wish I had back the two hours I spent watching it. WASTE OF MY TIME - and normally I really don't mind wasting my time.
IT'S OVER!

I still need to finish Shikaotoko Aoniyoshi. D: And Utahime, for that matter.

I'm so glad someone else out there loves Vineyard Man as much as I do. It really is the sweetest, most underrated show.

Awesome list (except I adore Hello Teacher to bits).

Pride was huge when it came out btw!

I agree Utahime is ridiculously underrated - it's on my most underrated dramas list, together with Return of Iljimae, Kingdom of the Winds (though that one did sorta-OK in the ratings, at least), and Worlds Within.

I think I will check out Vinyeard Man. The leading man is not my thing but so many flisters love it.

I knew Pride was big in Japan when it came out, I was just thinking in regards to its profile in the drama community nowadays. It's older so it kind of falls by the wayside when most people talk about their favorite series. At least from what I've read, but I really haven't done that much looking into it.

I'm going to watch Return of Iljimae once I finish Painter of the Wind! I'm really excited to see that.

You should TOTALLY watch Vineyard Man. Oh Man Suk isn't crazy attractive, but I do think he's actually a handsome man. The haircut they give him in that series is so god awful it's near impossible to tell. Still, the love story is so sweet that it makes everything OK.

Do it, do it! OMS really grows on you. The way he talks, and the sweet things he does, and his smile -- he's perfect. ♥ ♥ ♥

Totally agreed that TVM is ridiculously underrated. And to think, if you hadn't recced it, I probably never would've gotten around to it.

I'm glad that I've finally seen some people that also like Vineyard Man. When I watched it I really enjoyed it and thought it was sweet, but kept doubting my taste because everyone else was saying it was so stupid and boring.

Have you seen Bad Family? I think that could be right up your alley.

It's pretty hilarious and all the characters are fantastic (with a pretty darn good OTP to boot). I HIGHLY recommend it, though I don't know how much you are watching right now. For sure it should go on your to-watch list.

... Oooooh. If you speak of it so highly, I definitely will. I think our tastes are generally similar.
