Day 03 - Your favorite new show (aired this TV season)

Going by this and my last three entries you'd think I only ever watch comedies. I almost went with The Vampire Diaries for this entry since it blew my initial bored reaction out of the water by the end of the season, but Community was awesome throughout its run. Besides, I can blather about TVD on another day.

Community is set at Greendale Community College and follows the exploits of one rag-tag Spanish study group. Much like The IT Crowd this just serves as base camp for the ridiculous adventures of our lovely students. Community toys around with tropes and pop culture to its heart's content and is glued together by the wonderful, hilarious performances of a very talented cast.

Basically, just go watch the episode "Modern Warfare" and you'll understand what Community is all about. Though, it may ruin television for you, because it is THAT AMAZING.

Annie - Annie was headed places in high school, until an addiction to Adderall resulted in her screaming about robots, crashing through some glass doors, and losing her college scholarship. She's now at Greendale trying to get her life back on track.

Britta - Britta is at Greendale also trying to figure out her next step after being somewhat aimless. There was some dropping out of high school and protesting involved, if I remember correctly. She's often referred to as the least funny of the group, because she takes herself very seriously. Too bad she pronounces "bagel" so weird.

Shirley - Recently divorced, Shirley is at Greendale to learn how she can start to market her baked goods. Most of the time she's quite friendly, but has very little tolerance for Pierce (who can blame her) and tends to stick her nose in other people's business.

Pierce - Pierce made his fortune in the moist towelette world and is attending Greendale apparently to find some companionship (7 ex-wives isn't enough) and maybe to find some (ever evasive) popularity. He wants to be young and hip, but is really just completely tactless and unintentionally offensive ALL THE TIME.

Jeff - Jeff is at Greendale because the Colorado Bar Association found out his law degree was not from Columbia the school, but rather Columbia, the country. So he's starting from scratch. He's sarcastic, but charismatic, and the reason the study group got together. Plus, he looks like Joel McHale.

Abed & Troy - They get to share a gif because their bromance is THAT EPIC. Abed is the source for most of the pop culture references in the show. He often speaks with a very detached voice and views the world through the lens of motion pictures. Troy was a high school football star before he injured himself doing a keg flip and lost his scholarship. Now he's QB for the Greendale Human Beings who are... less than good. He's not the brightest crayon in the box, but he is pretty funny.

Go with The IT Crowd, at least the first season since it's only 6 eps.

DON'T WORRY, YOUR CHOICE DIDN'T AFFECT MINE, YOUR CHILDREN KNOW YOU LOVE THEM EQUALLY. Since I realized that I already have the first season downloaded, I'm starting with The IT Crowd. :D

CAUGHT UP ON COMMUNITY. Your stellar taste in tv is now making me think I should try The Vampire Diaries... even though I don't really go for vampires. You haven't led me astray so far, though, it's tempting to throw my preferences to the wind and try it anyway!

BUT There's also EL TIGRE CHINO!! The Paintball episode is by far my favorite episode.
