Day 17 - Favorite mini series

ROOTS

I don't know that I can actually classify Roots as my favorite miniseries as I don't believe I actually have one, but it is the one that I've seen the most.

For anyone that doesn't know, Roots follows the lives of a family over 100 years (or 10 hours in miniseries time) from being enslaved in Africa in 1750 through the Civil War. It's a story on an epic scale, and given it's size sometimes it falters under it's own weight. Parts of the story are far more intriguing then others, but it's still a great show to experience.

I love the idea of miniseries. They offer a chance to tell a story without having to stretch it beyond it's capacity. I really appreciate that SciFi keeps turning out pretty decent efforts like The Lost Room, Tin Man, and Alice. There are still a bunch of miniseries on my to-watch list like Band of Brothers and Generation Kill.
