Spent the weekend getting stuff together for my trip to Spain. Leaving in 8 days! I'm pretty excited!

I also spent most of Sunday trying to fix my work laptop. It started going crazy slow and in a fit of uninstalling programs I accidentally deleted my audio driver. That was fun (read: painful) to fix. But I DID IT, because I'm AWESOME. I also fixed some registry errors and defraged the harddrive. It's not going to win any sprints anytime soon, but at least Photoshop has stopped shutting down whenever I try to edit text. That wasn't fun (read: productive).

While troubleshooting issues I also watched a few more episodes of SPEC which is just fantastic. I'm building up an archive of all the faces Toda Erika makes so I can compile a giant picspam. She's great as Toma. The show is so much fun.

I also watched the fourth episode of Being Human. And... I have thoughts.

WAY TO GIVE ME WHIPLASH, SHOW.

Now, I never expected things to be sunshine and lollipops for Annie and Mitchell, but I also didn't expect that. Their first scene together was like a record scratching to a grinding, screeching halt. We went from the cuteness of their interactions and the romance of their kiss to BAM - SUPER AWKWARD TIME.

I didn't ship these two for no reason. They have (had?) a ton of chemistry. They were adorable together for two seasons. And then we had Mitchell's determination to SAVE HER FROM HELL and now it's like a switch has been flipped and I don't know if it's possible for him to be any less into it.

Annie is always pure Annie, she latches on to things and can be ridiculous, but she's Annie and I love her and how intense/crazy she can get about things. She just fills up a room with everything she wants to do/give/be.

Then we have Mitchell who is getting more and more self-involved with every passing day. Now, I understand obsessing a bit over the fact he has a death sentence hanging above his head. But if you're going to be a withdrawn ass then don't bring Annie into it. It's not fair to her and she deserves a lot better than to keep pouring her love onto him and get nothing in return.

George said not to get into it lightly and I feel like that's what he's done. There is nothing invested on his part in this relationship. He wants Annie as a support, a constant, and she's the perfect person for that role, but she needs the same in return.

A pretty straight-forward example of this is their physical relationship. That first scene is Annie trying to get Mitchell to feel something and he's just... laying there. What about her? Do the lady a favor! DAMN!

Granted, that got a teensy bit resolved with their talk on the stairs. Sex is a weapon for him and he is interested in more than that with Annie. OK, FINE. Even though I was looking for some hot action, I can accept that. But, if that's the case - FREAKING ACT LIKE IT, MITCHELL. He was so constantly withdrawn in all his scenes with her. Tell her what the deal is! Boy needs to learn some trust if he's actually going to have a real 'relationship' with someone.

It all just makes me think he doesn't mean it, not really, and that kills me. Mitchell gives a lot of lip service to wanting to be a better guy, but at some point you actually have to do it.

OK, let's deal with this whole 'wolf-shaped bullet' thing. Handling things yourself has worked out so well in the past, hasn't it Mitchell? Oh, no, it hasn't. It was a stupid, selfish move to turn McNair over to the vampires. Mitchell's in panic mode at that isn't going to work out well for anyone.

And speaking of McNair - you don't get to judge Mitchell for killing when you've done the exact same thing. Taking in a boy after killing his parents doesn't absolve you of your sins either, pal. Pot, kettle.

I was pretty unimpressed with this episode as a whole. I thought it was missing the humor for the most part that makes this show work for me. It deals with some pretty heavy stuff, so a little levity is needed. Granted, I did watch some scenes again, like Annie's dirty talk which was just painfully uncomfortable the first time I did see the humor the second time around. And the cage scenes were pretty awesome.

But last week's episode was great and I was in such a tizzy to see what happened next that this was a major letdown for me. I just think it would have been nice to get like a scene where Mitchell and Annie were actually both content and happy. But no.

The preview for next week doesn't give me much hope either. :/ I thought the writers would handle this better than they have.

My sister is studying in Murcia this semester, so that's where my other sister and I are flying into. Then we're going to Granada, Cordoba, and Almeria. Looooots of bus travel crammed into a few days, but I'm very excited! :D

Oh that's so exciting! Cordoba! I've always wanted to go there.
Take a nice warm blanket for the bus! It's how I got really sick in Mexico :(

Have fun and I hope you'll share some pictures :D

I need to go back and watch the first season. I love Nina and George, but I honestly don't remember much about the beginning of their relationship.

I always thought Annie and Mitchell were super adorable together as friends, so I expected that to extend into any romantic relationship. But Mitchell's too far up his own ass right now. I know he cares about his friends, but though he claims not to, he always blames circumstances for his behavior. He's an addict, I get it, but I hope at some point we're going to get a real redemption arc for him. There is only such much shit he can do before I stop rooting for him.
