DRAMA DUMP

Where the heck have I been? Flist, I don't even know. Summer is getting away from me. I can't believe it's almost the 4th. Because that, as most Americans know, pretty much signals the end of summer. We're rounding the turn and headed down the homestretch. Way to be depressing, sorry.

Mostly I've been working. And I'm legitimately busy at work now (new job is going pretty well!), so I don't have the freedom to peruse LJ as often as I used (or would like) to. Plus, I'm kind of all about tumblr at the moment. I'm upsydownsy over there. CH-ch-ch-ch-check it out.

BUT, I have been watching dramas. I wrapped up Get Karl! Oh Soo-jung, Best Love, and Lie to Me in the last week. And I enjoyed them all for the most part, though none were spectacular. They are rom-coms, which is my go-to genre. I'm pretty much guaranteed to like a rom-com granted it's not exheedingly un-romantic or un-comedic. But there has to be something extra to push it over the top for me. And while I liked these three, none of them possessed that extra spark, they were always missing something.

I actually don't have much to complain about with this little show. I went into it with very low expectations, because it was all thrown together so quickly. They didn't even start shooting it until a month before the air date, right? And casting was all kind of last minute. The entire thing just had disaster written all over it. And narratively, it was. The set-up was clunky to say the very least. Those first couple of episodes were pretty painful, but then ... spoilers for this show and then talk about Best Love and Get Karl! )

NEXT UP: What is everyone watching this coming season? Myung-wol the Spy is the only kdrama I'm going to be watching (at the moment). I'm definitely going to check out the Ouran drama (though I'm wary) and Arakawa Under the Bridge even though I've never read the manga or watched the anime, I just find Kiritani Mirei freaking adorable.
Watched the first two episodes of Best Love and I couldn't be happier. It's funny, interesting, and I love the two main characters.

Not terribly interesting the secondary characters at this point, through no real fault of their own. We haven't seen much of them after all. I'm just truly enjoying every single interaction that Goo Ae-jung and Dokko Jin have. So much so that everything kind of pales in comparison.

Have a short, random picspam I made from the second episode )

No, I have no idea what the deal with her shoulders is or why there is a napkin attached to her torso.

Yes, that is a demin vest. And no, I don't care how cool you are, that is never a good decision.

ETA: Yeah... I think I'm done with Manny. The mom continues to annoy me, the children are brats, Janice lost her spunk and is all googly-eyed over the manny, and he is just right about eeeeeeverything. Boring, moving on.
